Also known as colonic irragation, high colonic, enterolavage, or simply colonic. It is the process of cleansing the colon by passing a gentle flow of warm, purified water through it with the use of special equipment.
How does the procedure work?
You will come into our office and fill out a client health history. You will then be escorted into a private room and instructed how to insert a rectal tube. You will then lie on the colon hydrotherapy table and warm. Purified water will flow through the approximately 5 feet of your large intestines for 30-40 minutes.. You will release your waste and toxins on the “toilet table.” There is a clear viewing tube that runs along side the table so that you will be able to view the waste as it is released. Soft music and candles are available if you like.
Does it hurt?
No, the session is relatively painless. You will be instructed on how to insert you own rectal tube which is about the size of a number 2 pencil. The tube is very tiny and only goes about an inch into the rectum.
Is it smelly?
There is a fan which takes odor out of the room into the sewer. So, it is virtually odorless.
How long is a session?
The basic session lasts approximately 40 minutes. However, we ask you to schedule 1 hour and 15 minutes for your initial visit.
What do I need to do to prepare for a session?
The more hydrated you are, the better your session will be. You may want to drink plenty of good water in preparation for your visit. On the day of your session, we encourage you to stop eating at least 2 hours before your appointment time and avoid any foods or drinks that cause you excess gas.
Will I be able to drive or do other activities when I finish the session?
Yes. You should not be impaired at all. 90% of our clients experience a burst of energy after a session. The other 10% feel tired and want to rest afterwards but they are not impaired.
What about my electrolytes?
It has been found that electrolytes are minimally affected by colon cleansing. However, we do have complimentary electrolytes available if you desire them after a session.
What about my bowel flora?
It is true that when you flush out toxic bowel waste, you will also remove some of the beneficial bowel flora (“good bacteria”) Therefore, we suggest that you discuss with your physician about the possibility of reestablishing good bowel flora with probiotics.
How many sessions will I need?
Since we can not prescribe, that will be totally up to you and your physician. However, it is believed that it takes about 12 sessions to completely detox the colon. Therefore we offer favorable discounts for someone who commits to prepaying for multiple sessions.
How often can I get them?
There is no scientific data that we are aware of concerning this. We have experienced deep cleansing when scheduling colonics within 7 to 14 days. Most people will come once per week when starting a cleanse. However, it is totally up to you and your physician.
What are the benefits of colon hydrotherapy?
We are not allowed to make any claims of benefits. However, colon hydrotherapy has been indicated in cases of acute fecal impaction, constipation, colitis, diarrhea, diverticulosis, parasitic infections, prevention, bowel training, preparation surgery or diagnostic studies such as sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy.
Will I lose weight?
It is widely believed among alternative health practitioners that the average person will have up to 25 pounds of toxic waste in their colons so it is common to experience some weight loss. However, at Healing Waters we like to refer to it as “waste loss.”
Are there any contraindications?
Yes, although colon hydrotherapy is fine for most people, there are a few exceptions. If you have any of the following conditions, you may not be able to do colon hydrotherapy. However, you may be able to use some of our other services. Ask your physician, if in doubt.
Does my insurance pay for this?
In most cases, the answer is no. However, if you are under the care of a GI doctor who prescribes colon hydrotherapy as a part of your treatment, you may be able to be reimbursed by your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company because we do not file insurance claims. Payment must be rendered at time of service.
